RouteGO ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the RouteGO mobile application ("App").
By using RouteGO, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Location Data
We collect location data only when you grant the "When In Use" permission. This data is used to:
- Set your current position as a route starting point
- Find nearby places and geocode addresses
- Calculate route distances and durations
Important: Location data is processed on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. We do not track your location in the background.
1.2 Route Data
When you create and save routes, the following information is stored locally on your device:
- Route names and notes
- Stop locations (names, addresses, coordinates)
- Travel preferences (driving/walking mode)
- Optimization settings
- Timestamps (created and modified dates)
This data remains on your device unless you enable iCloud sync (premium feature), in which case it is stored in your personal iCloud account.
1.3 User Preferences
We store your app preferences locally on your device, including:
- Default travel mode (driving/walking)
- Default optimization mode (fastest/shortest)
- Analytics opt-out status
- Onboarding completion status
1.4 Subscription Information
Subscription and purchase data is managed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not have access to your payment information. We only receive confirmation of your subscription status to enable premium features.
1.5 Analytics Data
We use the following third-party analytics services to collect anonymous usage data to improve our App:
- PostHog: Product analytics and session replay to understand how users interact with the App. Data is processed on EU-based servers.
- Firebase Analytics (Google): Event tracking and attribution for measuring advertising campaign effectiveness (e.g., Google Ads).
The types of anonymous data collected include:
- Feature usage patterns (e.g., number of stops added, optimization completed)
- Screen views and app navigation events
- Error occurrences
- Subscription events (purchase, renewal, cancellation)
1.6 Crash Data
We use Firebase Crashlytics (Google) to collect crash reports and diagnostic data. This includes:
- Crash logs and stack traces
- Device model and operating system version
- Non-fatal error reports
- Subscription status at time of crash (to help prioritize fixes)
Crash data does not contain personally identifiable information, route content, or location data.
1.7 Advertising Attribution Data
We use the following services for advertising attribution to measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns:
- Facebook SDK (Meta): Collects anonymous app events (e.g., purchases, trial starts) for Meta Ads campaign optimization.
- Firebase Analytics (Google): Collects anonymous app events for Google Ads campaign optimization.
We do not collect your Advertising Identifier (IDFA) or use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. No cross-app tracking is performed.
We do NOT collect:
- Personally identifiable information (PII)
- Your actual location coordinates
- Route contents or destinations
- Names, email addresses, or contact information
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide Core Functionality: Optimize your routes, calculate distances, and enable navigation
- Enable Premium Features: Sync routes across your devices via iCloud
- Improve the App: Analyze anonymous usage patterns to enhance features and fix bugs
- Manage Subscriptions: Verify your subscription status to unlock premium features
3. Data Storage and Security
3.1 On-Device Storage
All route data and preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's secure storage frameworks (SwiftData and UserDefaults). This data is protected by your device's security features.
3.2 iCloud Sync (Premium Feature)
If you enable iCloud sync, your routes are stored in your private iCloud container. This data is:
- Encrypted by Apple
- Accessible only from devices signed into your Apple ID
- Subject to Apple's iCloud privacy policy
3.3 Analytics and Crash Data
Anonymous analytics data is transmitted to the following services:
- PostHog: EU-based servers, GDPR compliant. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Analytics: Google's secure infrastructure. See Firebase Privacy Information.
- Firebase Crashlytics: Crash data processed by Google. See Firebase Privacy Information.
- Facebook SDK: Meta's servers. See Meta Privacy Policy.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
We share data only with the following service providers who assist in operating our App:

5. Your Rights and Choices
5.1 Analytics Opt-Out
You can disable analytics and crash reporting at any time:
- Open RouteGO
- Go to Settings > Privacy
- Toggle off "Share Analytics"
When disabled, no usage data will be sent to PostHog, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, or Facebook SDK.
5.2 Delete Your Data
You can delete all your saved routes:
- Open RouteGO
- Go to Settings > Data
- Tap "Delete All Routes"
This removes all routes from your device and iCloud (if synced).
5.3 Location Permission
You can revoke location permission at any time through your device's Settings app. Note that some features (like using your current location as a starting point) will be unavailable without this permission.
5.4 Access Your Data
All your route data is visible within the App under "Saved Routes." You can view, edit, or export this information at any time.
6. Data Retention
- Route Data: Retained until you delete it or uninstall the App
- User Preferences: Retained until you uninstall the App
- Analytics Data (PostHog): Retained according to PostHog's retention policy (typically 1-2 years)
- Analytics Data (Firebase): Retained according to Google's data retention settings (default 14 months)
- Crash Data (Crashlytics): Retained for 90 days by Google
- Ad Attribution Data (Facebook): Retained according to Meta's data retention policy
- iCloud Data: Retained until you delete routes or remove data from iCloud
7. Children's Privacy
RouteGO is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
8. International Data Transfers
Data may be processed in countries outside your country of residence:
- PostHog: Data is processed on EU-based servers.
- Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (Google): Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where Google operates.
- Facebook SDK (Meta): Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where Meta operates.
Each provider maintains appropriate safeguards for international data transfers in compliance with applicable laws, including Standard Contractual Clauses where required.
9. GDPR Rights (European Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure: Request deletion of your data
- Restriction: Request limitation of data processing
- Portability: Receive your data in a portable format
- Object: Object to data processing for analytics

10. CCPA Rights (California Users)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information is collected
- Know whether personal information is sold or disclosed
- Opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data)

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:
- Posting the new Privacy Policy in the App
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
